Brothers Linden Phetxoumphone (120) and Adrian Phetxoumphone (126) earned spots in the Class 2A quarterfinals.
Linden (33-2), the No. 2 seed, won a tight 7-3 decision over Gabriel Schnerre (30-17) of Davenport Assumption.
Linden will now wrestle No. 10 Judah Gurwell (31-6) of Winterset.
Adrian (40-2) cruised to a 17-2 technical fall in 3:28 over Gavin Knutson (27-18) of Decorah. The sixth-seed will see No. 3 seed Emmitt Newton (56-2) of Davis County.
Joining the Phetxoumphones in the quarters are Colin Sesker (144) and Charlie Campbell (175).
Sesker (34-8), the 11th seed, earned a major decision against Jaymes Stevens (24-21) of Hampton-Dumont/CAL in a 10-2 count.
In the second round, Sesker upset sixth-seeded Barrett Morgan (33-11) of Algona, 4-0. The NCC opponents had split two matches heading into the state tournament.
Sesker, the No. 11 seed, now has No. 3 Ragen Hasche (31-4) of Central Lyon.
Campbell (41-3), the fifth seed, won a tight 5-3 decision over Ayden Antonelli (36-7) of Anamosa.
On deck for Campbell is fourth-seed Kyler Crow (39-0) of Mediapolis.
Caleb Seaba (33-13) lost to Green County’s Brent Denhardt (26-2) in the second round at 157. Denhardt earned a tech fall (19-3) in 5:53. Seaba advanced after a 16-1 tech fall over Chayton Snethen (36-22) of Harlan.
Seaba, No. 9 at 157, now has No. 23 Elias Bieschke (35-23) of Benton.
After a first-round bye, fifth-seed JT Kelso (37-6) lost to Evan Sorenson (41-3) of Atlantic.
Kelso will now see No. 22 Rei Steger (21-17) of Carroll Kuemper.
Freshman Paxton Redenius (29-17) lost by fall in 55 seconds to Greene County’s Brennan Jacobs (36-7) at 106 pounds. Redenius has fourth-seeded Kline Kibur (31-2) of Winterset.
Rookie Ryland Morgan (26-19) lost an 8-0 major decision to Mitchel Fischer (35-9) of Sheldon/South O’Brien. On deck for No. 15 Morgan is No. 17 Cooper Hird (33-14) of Mount Vernon.
Junior Angel Cortes ((15-7 at 113) went 1-1 on opening day. Cortes beat Watson Susie (31-9) of OABCIG, 17-1 and lost to Quinn Arellano (35-6) of Van Meter, 10-2.
Cortes’ next opponent is No. 13 Collin Harris (39-13) of Anamosa.

Senior Luke Estlund (165) lost his opening match to Cooper Hird (33-13) of Mount Vernon by a major decision, 14-0.
Estlund (2-3), the 16th-seed, will now face 18th seed Mitchel Fischer (35-10) of Sheldon/South O’Brien in a consolation match on Thursday.
Junior Cody Elliott (26-9) lost by fall to Jackson Wacha (30-6) of Ballard in his 215-pound match. Next up for 18th-seeded Elliott will be No. 16 Jesse Brouwer (41-5) of AP-GC.

Junior Hayden Schafer (41-12) advanced to the second round with a 17-2 rout of Mediapolis Peyton Johnson (32-7) in the first round at 157 pounds.
He suffered a 10-4 loss to Lucas Kral (46-2) of Garner-Hayfield in his second match.
Schafer, the 16th seed, will now face 15th-seeded Holten Palmer (23-6) of Waukon.
Junior Jayden Kreitlow (35-20) dropped a tight 4-3 decision to Grinnell’s Josh Ringler (46-5) in his opening match at 175. No. 20 Kreitlow is now up against No. 19 Tayten Rummel (33-18) of Algona.
Senior Jesus Baez (34-23) was edged in a 1-0 decision versus Owen Pettlon (27-21) of West Delaware in his opening round match at 285. No. 16 Baez is on the docket against No. 15 Aidan Jenaman (23-14) of Dubuque Wahlert.

Senior Brent Denhardt (157) and sophomore Degan Miller (165) reached the quarterfinals for the Rams.
In his second state appearance after finishing eighth a year ago, Denhardt beat Clarion-Goldfield/Dows’ Caleb Seaba (33-13) — a three-time qualifier. Denhardt (26-2) picked up a 19-3 tech fall in 5:53.
The eighth-seeded Denhardt will square off with No. 1 Lucas Kral (46-2) of Garner-Hayfield/Ventura in the quarterfinals.
Degan Miller (34-8) advanced to the 165-pound quarters with a 5-2 decision over Kahne Kibruz (38-9) of Winterset. Miller, the sixth seed, will compete against No. 3 Ryker Dengler (40-4) of West Liberty.
Sophomore Jaron Jacobs (37-10) fell in a 13-4 major decision versus Carl Shew (35-8) of North Butler-Clarksville at 113 pounds.
Up next for Jacobs, the 16th seed, is No. 15 Eli Ollinger (29-10) of Vinton-Shellsburg.
Sophomore Brennan Jacobs (106) won his first match, pinning Paxton Redenius (29-17) of Clarion-Goldfield/Dows in 55 seconds. Jacobs (36-8) then lost to third-seeded Slater Thomas (41-1) of Eddyville-Blakesburg in 1:31.
No. 14 Jacobs will wrestle No. 20 Madox Strother (35-13) of Hampton-Dumont/CAL.
Senior Gavyn Winters (120) went 1-1. Winters (30-8) beat Caden Steinkamp (22-14) of Center Point-Urbana 17-5. He then suffered a fall loss in 5:41 to Colt Boyles (43-7) of Burlington Notre Dame.
