FD boys play regular season finale

PERRY — Weather permitting, the Fort Dodge boys basketball team closes the regular season with a contest at Perry on Tuesday.

The Dodgers (4-16 overall) are set to take on the Bluejays (13-8) at 7:30 p.m.

Junior Hayden Zuspann had 17 points in Fort Dodge’s 60-49 loss to IAC Southern Division champion Des Moines Roosevelt the last time out. Zuspann swished five of the Dodgers’ seven three-point baskets, as Fort Dodge built a halftime lead but couldn’t hang on.

Senior Cade Westerhoff is averaging 13.7 points and 7.3 rebounds for FDSH, with classmate Carter Woodruff at 8.8 points and 3.3 assists. Freshman Reggie Pederson (7.1 points) and Zuspann (5.4) are next in line offensively.

Perry, which defeated South Tama 67-47 on Monday, is led by senior Owen Myers (19.7 points per game), senior Geren Kenney (17.8) and junior Gustavo Drahos (14.6). The 6-foot-3 Kenney is also averaging 9.8 rebounds, 5.9 assists and 3.1 steals.

Head coach Willie Williams’ squad was also given its Class 4A substate assignment on Monday, as the Dodgers will hit the road to take on Dallas Center-Grimes (15-5) this Monday at 7 p.m. in the quarterfinal round. The winner heads to Ankeny for the semis.
