Fort Dodge bowlers close out dual portion of season
The Fort Dodge bowling squads were in action at home on Friday in their final duals of the year.
The Dodger boys rolled a 2859, defeating Estherville-Lincoln Central (2775) but falling to Carroll (3091). The FDSH girls topped the Tigers, 1669-1338.
Senior Trenton Beck rolled a career-best 510 to pace the Dodger boys.
“It felt so good to see the boys come out and bowl their best total of the season,” Fort Dodge boys head coach Julie Ulrich said. “We’ve hit 2600 three times this year, so I told the boys our goal was 2700 today. For them to shoot 2859 (204 pins over our best) was awesome.”
Beck was followed by Blake Seeman’s 399.
“This was just what we needed to build a little confidence heading into our conference meet next Monday and districts,” Ulrich said.
The Dodger girls were led by Sammantha Welter, who had a 124-178–302, and Calli Graves, who rolled a 150-117–267.
“It was nice to get a win in final dual of the year,” FDSH girls head coach Nick Vinson said. “We still just lack consistency overall. We have to be better about working to get better. You get what you put into preparation for meets.
“But it’s good to end things on a positive note heading into conference.”
The boys portion of the IAC meet is Monday in Des Moines, with the girls competing on Tuesday. Both events start at 10 a.m.
