Garrigan reaches substate finals
CLEAR LAKE — A big third quarter helped the Bishop Garrigan boys secure a district title and spot in a Class 1A substate final here Tuesday night.
The Golden Bears ousted Lake Mills by a final of 63-51.
Bishop Garrigan (21-3 overall) will get a rematch with fourth-ranked St. Edmond in Humboldt on Saturday night for the right to advance to the state tournament. The Gaels (21-3) knocked off Mason City Newman, 63-54.
Holding a four-point cushion heading into the third, the Golden Bears would outscore Lake Mills (17-6), 17-8, to gain control of the contest.
Bishop Garrigan has won five straight and 14 of 16 around two losses to Forest City. They dropped the season opener to St. Edmond, 56-51, in Fort Dodge.
