Iowa Central men take care of Iowa Western

The Iowa Central men got right back on track here Saturday, downing Iowa Western inside Hodges Fieldhouse, 73-54.

It was a one-sided performance from the start, as the Tritons (13-11 overall, 7-8 in the ICCAC) raced out to a 35-22 lead on the heels of strong shooting from deep.

Iowa Central sank five 3-pointers in the opening 20 minutes and shot 52 percent from the field, finishing with 10 triples in all. Daviyon Gaston led with 22 points while Aleix Sempere Serrano added 14 and Jalen Wynter had 11.

Serrano recorded a double-double, grabbing 13 rebounds including six on the offensive end. Terrius Walker had six points and seven rebounds while Jordan Cain and Vice Grbic combined for 12 points and seven boards.

For the Reivers (15-10, 7-7) Bryson Calamese had 10 points with four others each scoring nine.

Iowa Central returns to action on Wednesday at Central-Columbus.
