The Iowa Central baseball team played the earliest home opener in program history here on Sunday, posting a 10-1 victory against Southwestern at Rogers Park.

The Tritons plated six runs in the third inning and three more in the seventh. That was more than enough offense to back five ICCC pitchers who scattered a five-hitter and didn’t allow an earned run.

Ryan Ohm worked the first three innings for the victory. He struck out three. Carter Giesen relieved and K’d the side in both the fourth and fifth frames, and Braxton Shaffer whiffed four himself.

Leadoff hitter Cade Sears was 4-for-6 with two RBI for Iowa Central, with Jake Busson and Eric Nuno driving in three runs each. Busson and Nuno homered.

Luke Bohonek went 2-for-3 with two runs scored.

The Tritons are now off until their Tennessee trip, which begins on February 14 in Millington.

Starting at $2.99/week.
