Red-hot Triton men overwhelm NIACC

MASON CITY — The Iowa Central men’s basketball team got off to a sizzling start at NIACC on Sunday and made it last, posting a 96-78 road victory to complete the season sweep.
The Tritons (15-11 overall, 8-8 in the ICCAC) made their first 11 three-point baskets and led 56-25 at halftime over the Trojans (17-10, 8-8).
Jaylen Winter had 20 points to pace Iowa Central, hitting 4 of his 7 three-point tries. Jordan Cain added 18, drilling three triples of his own.
Seven different Tritons hit shots from behind the arc. Iowa Central also got 42 points from its bench, led by Daviyon Gaston (10) and Terrius Walker (9).
CJ Mitchell dished out eight assists and had four steals for the Tritons, who finished shooting 55 percent from the floor and 58 percent from deep.
Iowa Central takes on Northeast this Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. inside Hodges Fieldhouse.
