Taylor a 4-time conference champ for GVU

OSKALOOSA — Carson Taylor became a four-time Heart of America Conference wrestling champion here on Saturday.
The Grand View senior won the 141-pound title, going 3-0 through the field. Taylor, who has a COVID-year was also second at the conference meet.
Taylor’s honors honored him Outstanding Wrestler of the tournament.
Taylor, a state champion from Fort Dodge, tech falled Edrich Nortje (10-4) of Dickinson State, 16-0 in four minutes and 11 seconds for first place.
In the semis, Taylor (22-2) blanked Kavika Aholelei (9-5) of Dickinson State, 11-0. His first match was a 13-2 major decision over Chuck Fitzgerald of Central Methodist.
The Vikings crowned six champions on their way to the team title with 239.5 team points. Next in line was Missouri Valley with 148. 5 and Dickinson State had 138.5.
