COUNCIL BLUFFS — The Iowa Central women bring a pack of 24 to the NJCAA Wrestling Invitational led by No. 1 seed Alexis Ross beginning here Friday.

Action starts at 9 a.m. with preliminary first round matches and continues through the crowning of champions on Saturday night.

Ross, a sophomore and former Fort Dodge Senior High state champion, is one of 10 Triton wrestlers who earned a seed for the meet. She will be the top-seed at 138 pounds with Annabelle Petsinger earning the No. 2 at 124.

Aniyah Dinwiddie, Avery Mohr and Aneth Campos are all a three-seed with Delise Villa a No. 4. Myah Rausch, Maia Esera, Breanna Salgado and Amaya Fariley Vasquez all are seeded to begin the tourney.

Iowa Central is seeking more hardware to add to the case after winning the NJCAA Coaches Association National Duals title and the ICCAC North Central District title earlier this year. Ross, Petsinger, Mohr and Villa were all crowned champions at districts.

Last year at the national invitational, the Tritons finished second as Ross was a third place medalist. Kammie Schanz, a returner, was also third while Dinwiddie placed fourth.

Briana Araujo-Batista captured the first individual national title for Iowa Central last winter.
