Three more wins for Adams
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — Fort Dodge graduate Jalen Adams earned her third win of the weekend for Iowa at Wooo Pig Classic in Arkansas.
On Sunday Adams led the Hawkeyes (12-5) to a 3-1 win over Illinois.
The Dodger All-Stater pitched seven innings, allowing three hits and one earned run, while striking out 10.
Adams’ (10-1 overall) only loss of the season was in a relief situation and she has won all 10 of her starts.
Fellow ex-Dodger All-Stater Tory Bennett had two hits.
On Friday, the Hawkeyes opened the tournament with a 8-0 win over Missouri State. Adams picked up the win, allowing two hits and striking out two.
Bennett had a hit and scored a run.
The Hawkeyes lost 9-0 to No. 11 Arkansas in the second contest.
The second win for Adams came on Saturday when Iowa beat Missouri State 5-4. Adams went seven innings again, allowing six hits and zero earned runs, while striking out eight.
In the second game on Saturday they fell 12-0 to Arkansas.
Iowa will be back in action next weekend in the Alabama Spring Break Showdown. They will meet Louisiana Lafayette at 2 p.m. and Alabama at 6 p.m. with Humboldt graduate Kendal Clark.
