Triton men’s track wins indoor national title

LUBBOCK, Tex. — The Iowa Central track and field programs gained some momentum moving into the outdoor season by securing 13 All-American honors here at the NJCAA Indoor National Championships.

The Tritons scored a national title in the men’s competition, while also setting two new school records in the process.

Taha Ouchene, Saad Rifi Loutfi, Soufyane Laaziz and Said Rifi Loutfi won the men’s 4×800-meter relay in a school-best 7:33.05. Bongumusa Nkosi also set a new school record with his 46.44 in the 400-meter run, placing fifth.

In the distance medley relay, the same quartet that ran the 4×800 placed second in 9:52.08 while Zariah Greaves (60) and Alan Lefevre (Heptathlon) both placed third.

Maeva Goune Tibbolo and Saad Rifi Loutfi were both fourth in the long jump and 1,000.

The women’s 4×800 and distance medley relays each placed fifth, as did Paola Behile (triple jump) and Said Rifi Loutfi (1,000). Yasser Soualah (1,000) and U’Nitee Brown (shot put) finished eighth to also earn All-American status.

Nkosi’s time in the 400 was good for 14th on the NJCAA all-time records.
