Dodger boys topple East

The Fort Dodge boys tennis team put together a dominating performance here Tuesday to defeat Des Moines East, 10-1.

Micah Flaherty remained unbeaten in singles on the year with a win at the No. 1 spot. Joining him were Tate Balkenende, Aidan Recker, Jaxon Price and Corban McHone as winners in singles.

“It was nice to see the guys come away with a victory and get some confidence in what they can do,” FDSH head coach Scott Messerly said. “We’ve played a lot of tennis in the last few weeks and they continue to work towards getting better.”

In doubles, Flaherty and Balkenede, Recker and Price, McHone and Jaxton Jones, Jaden Stanley and Josh Beekman, and Mason Lundberg and Jayden Lennon were all winners.

Picking up junior varsity wins in doubles were the teams of Trice Jakeman and Drew Essman, Easton Minkoff and Carson Huffman, and Elijah Mananquil and Bentley Jones.

Fort Dodge heads to Ames on Thursday.
