Dodger girls defeat Spencer in tennis

SPENCER — Before returning here Saturday for tournament action, the Fort Dodge girls tennis team gained some momentum with a 7-3 victory over Spencer Friday evening.

Manuela Rodriguez, Amy Muftillaeva, Grace Behrens and Lacey Larson all scored wins in singles, while Muftillaeva and Larson, Madge Hensley and Kaitlyn Folsom, and Claire Thompson and Meah McCaleb earned doubles victories to secure the dual.

“Everybody played really well,” FDSH head coach Julie Astor said. “It was a little different format with a 10-game pro-set being used, but that was good for the girls to experience.

“Madge and Kaitlyn were down in their doubles set and came back for a big win.”

In junior varsity action, Mia Carpenter, Grace Rivera, Teagan Loots and Aveya Lee all picked up wins, Doubles victories belonged to Carpenter and Rivera, along with Lee and Taylor Martin.

FDSH is at the Price invite at 9 a.m. on Saturday.

Starting at $2.99/week.
