The Fort Dodge boys soccer team got their season underway here Tuesday night inside a rainy and chilly Dodger Stadium against Des Moines North.
After an early offensive attack by the Polar Bears led to a 7-0 halftime lead, North put the Dodgers away in the second half, winning by a final of 10-0.
Temperatures hovered around 40 degrees with misty rain and 20-plus mile per hour wind.
The Polar Bears, who went 10-7 a year ago, have now won the last four meetings with Fort Dodge overall, as the Dodgers claimed a win in 2015.
Since going 2-13 in 2022, Des Moines North has gone 17-14. They return leading goal scorers Ramadhani Songwa, Magok Mankog and Cristiano Abutu, who combined for 30 goals last year.
Fort Dodge is back in action on Thursday when they host Sioux City North at 6:30 p.m. The Stars scored a 2-0 victory over the Dodgers last year and have won all five meetings between the two since 2019.
