Dodgers sweep Scarlets
DES MOINES — The Fort Dodge girls tennis team controlled Des Moines East here Tuesday, scoring an 11-0 victory.
Manuela Rodriguez, Amy Muftillaeva, Grace Behrens and Lacey Larson each posted 10-0 victories at the top singles spots for the Dodgers. Mia Carpenter and Claire Thompson followed with wins, dropping just a combined three games.
In doubles, Rodriguez and Muftillaeva, along with Behrens and Larson, both posted 10-0 victories at the No. 1 and No. 2 positions. The team of Meah McCaleb and Edyn Witham also won 10-0, with Madge Hensley and Kaitlyn Folsom, and Thompson and Kam Gochee following with wins.
It was a great effort all the way around,” FDSH head coach Julie Astor said. “We had an opportunity to get some girls varsity playing time that have spent most of the year on JV. It was a great confidence builder for them.
“Our regular girls had a chance to play and work on some shots. The past three matches were a little more challenging, so it was nice to just go play and have fun.”
The Dodgers return home to host Ames on Thursday.
