FD girls lose to Roosevelt

The Fort Dodge girls tennis team dropped a 7-4 decision to Des Moines Roosevelt here Thursday evening.

Earning singles wins for the Dodgers were Amy Muftillaeva and Grace Behrens. Muftillaeva and Madge Hensley paired up in doubles for a victory, as did the team of Mia Carpenter and Grace Rivera.

“Six of the 11 varsity matches went to a tiebreaker, so we were right there,” FDSH head coach Julie Astor said. “If a couple of those go our way, the results are different.”

One of those was the No. 1 singles, as returning state qualifier Scarlett Brown earned a tough win over Fort Dodge’s Manuela Rodriguez.

Picking up junior varsity wins in doubles for the Dodgers were Teagan Loots and Caitlyn Uhlenhopp, Emily Chichester and Lily Sheeder, Aveya Lee and Brooklyn Kaloupek, and Meah McCaleb and Harper Sandahl.

Fort Dodge heads to Spencer for a dual on Friday before return to Spencer Saturday for tournament action.

Starting at $2.99/week.
