Gael girls win three events
OGDEN — The St. Edmond track and field teams took advantage of the weather and competed here Thursday at the Ogden Early Bird Relays.
Anna Lursen had a leg in all three victories for the Gaels, winning the 400 hurdles while anchoring the sprint medley and distance medley relays to gold.
Lursen went 1:07.88 in the hurdles, as Faith Shirbroun and Brianna Saathoff joined her on both relays. Josie Harvey completed the sprint medley, which went 1:55.40, and Sasha Hess the distance medley, which went 4:31.44.
Mariah Myers claimed double silver, as she was the shot put and discus runner-up. Myers had a throw of 39-4.5 in the shot put and 121-9 in the discus.
“It was good to get outdoors and see what we could do,” SEHS head coach CJ Tracy said. “The girls ran very well. There are a few things we’ll work on to continue improving.”
Harvey was fourth in the 100 hurdles, Lily Eslick placed fifth in the 3,000 and eighth in the 1,500, as the 4×400 relay was fifth and the 4×200 relay sixth.
St. Edmond will run next on Monday in Gowrie at the Richard Ryan Relays hosted by Southeast Valley beginning at 4:30 p.m.
The teams set to compete include Eagle Grove, Manson Northwest Webster, Newell-Fonda, Pocahontas Area, South Central Calhoun, Webster City, Carroll, Glidden-Ralston, GTRA, Carroll Kuemper and Paton-Churdan.
