WEBSTER CITY — The St. Edmond boys track and field team was in action here Tuesday night at the Lynx Invitational.

Anthony Valles captured the 1,600 and ran on the winning 4×400-meter relay for the Gaels, who also had three seconds and a pair of thirds.

Valles went 4:45.22 in the 1,600, while Liam Shannon, Grant Galles, Valles and Aaron Hindt capped the meet in 3:37.56 to claim the last race.

“It was a perfect night for us to get out and run,” SEHS head coach Donn Larson said. “We really closed the meet strong scoring most of our points after the 800.

“I thought we did very well going up against some tough schools.”

Valles clocked a personal record in the 800 to place second with Hindt adding a runner-up in the 100 and a third in the long jump.

Shannon scored a silver in the 3,200 and was third in the 1,600.

In junior varsity action, the 4×400 of Shannon, Evan Christiansen, Logan Reed and Thomas Ehn placed first as Matthew Crimmins won the 1,600.

Waverly-Shell Rock won the meet followed by Iowa Falls-Alden, Humboldt, Mason City and host Webster City.

For the Lynx, Jayden Weinzetl captured both the 100 (11.10) and 200 (22.48).

Justin Callahan won the 400 hurdles (56.53).

Humboldt’s Tyler Carlson claimed the high jump and the Wildcats were also first in the 4×800 relay.

The Gaels head to Jewell for a meet hosted by South Hamilton on Thursday.
