Gaels earn four golds
CLARION — The St. Edmond boys track and field team claimed four first place finishes and were fourth overall here Thursday at the Cowboy Relays.
Anthony Valles scored two of those individual event titles and also ran on the winning distance medley relay with Aaron Hindt, Grant Galles and Levi Odor-Westrum.
Liam Shannon had the other top finish for the Gaels.
Valles was first in both the 800 and 1,600, with Shannon making it a distance sweep by winning the 3,200.
“We changed a few things up on the night but everybody really ran great,” SEHS head coach Donn Larson said. “We had some excellent performances from some of our younger kids up and down the lineup.”
Hindt added a second in the long jump, as did Odor-Westrum in the 800. The sprint medley relay of Kinnick Henning, Galles, Hindt and Odor-Westrum were also second.
Erik Larson was third in the 3,200, Galles placed third in the 200 and Matthew Crimmins was third in the 1,600. Hindt, Henning, Odor-Westrum and Galles were third in the 4×100.
“Erik dropped 15 more seconds off his time,” Larson said. “Levi just continues to perform great out there for someone who only started full-time in track as a junior.”
St. Edmond runs again on Monday at the Dodger Relays.
