Gaels win 3rd straight NCC crown
HAMPTON — The St. Edmond girls tennis team secured a third consecutive North Central Conference regular season title here Tuesday, shutting out Hampton-Dumont/CAL, 9-0.
Lauren Gibb, Payton Bradley, Cambree Lunn, Ava Andrew, Ava Underberg and Abby Huss all scored wins in singles for the Gaels (8-0 overall, 5-0 in league).
Gibb and Bradley, Lunn and Andrew, and Underberg and Chloe Palmer paired up to complete the sweep in doubles.
“I’m proud of the way the girls came out and played,” SEHS head coach Shawn Neverman said. “They were the better team and they showed it, giving up only five games in all.”
In junior varsity action, Olivia Andrew and Jade Rock, Andrew and Ashlyn Swisher, Braelynn Rees and Lucy Midtling, and Emily Mosier and Nicole Mosier were all winners.
St. Edmond will try to secure a third straight NCC tournament title when they head to Webster City on May 7.
