Dodger girls post win

WATERLOO — The Fort Dodge girls golf team posted an easy victory over Waterloo East in Iowa Alliance Conference action here on Tuesday.

The Dodgers finished at 213. FDSH sophomore Emma Lloyd was meet medalist, carding a 47. Senior Braxtyn Dencklau was right behind at 48.

Brielle Crouch (59) and Alani Crouse (59) rounded out the scoring for the Dodgers.

Brianna Borseth (60) led the Trojans.

Gaels compete on the links

The St. Edmond girls golf team played Algona and Hampton-Dumont/CAL here Tuesday at Lakeside Golf Course in North Central Conference action.

Algona fired a 184 to claim the triangular as Hampton-Dumont/CAL shot a 227 and the Gaels finished with a 280.

For St. Edmond, Nora Lee carded a 59 to place 11th overall. Ann Beneziano had a 72 followed by Khue Ngyuen, Irelyn Derrig, Azalya Hill and Cora Anderson.

Ella Welp was the medalist, leading Algona with a 44.

Up next for the Gaels will be action in Humboldt on Friday.

Gael boys fall at the nets

IOWA FALLS — The St. Edmond boys tennis team dropped a 9-0 decision here Tuesday to Iowa Falls-Alden.

Andrew Horrell won five games in his match in singles for the Gaels.

“Starting from scratch this year, the boys have shown a lot of improvement every practice and each meet,” SEHS head coach Shawn Neverman said. “Many of the teams we are playing are veteran-led squads but these boys are dedicated to building something and moving the program forward.”

St. Edmond takes on Webster City Thursday.

Dodgers fall to Mason City

MASON CITY — The Fort Dodge boys soccer team dropped a 6-1 decision to Mason City here Tuesday evening.

The Dodgers (1-6 overall) got on the board in the first half following a goal by Ericson Morales. Mason City answered back in the second half to secure the win.

Next action for Fort Dodge will be Friday when they host Des Moines East.

Tritons get back on track with sweep

The No. 13 Iowa Central baseball team secured a sweep over Southwestern here Tuesday at Rogers Park in ICCAC action.

Scores were 11-1 in five innings and 17-10.

The games were moved up a day due to inclement weather in the forecast for Wednesday. Iowa Central (37-9 overall, 21-5 in league) was coming off three straight losses to fifth-ranked Southeastern over the weekend.

Next action for the Tritons will be Saturday when they head to Iowa Falls to play Ellsworth. Final home games for Iowa Central are scheduled for May 2-3 vs. Kirkwood.

Condon breaks school, meet record

MADRID — Matt Condon placed his name atop the Madrid Invitational leaderboard and Manson Northwest Webster boys track and field leaderboard here Tuesday evening.

Condon cleared 6-7.25 to claim the meet title in the high jump and break both the meet and school record in the process. He was also the winner of the long jump, as he will compete in each event at the upcoming Drake Relays.

Thatcher Oswald was the 1,600 runner-up and Jack Hoeppner placed third in the 800 for the Cougars. The distance medley relay of Elliott Droste, Mason Prince, Keegan Reis and Kyle Widlund added a bronze.
