Cade Westerhoff ended his career in a Fort Dodge basketball uniform with his name among the Top 15 scorers of all-time.

For Westerhoff, there was still the age-old desire that wishes he’d have done more with his time.

Westerhoff was recently named to the all-Iowa Alliance Conference North division first squad, with senior teammate Carter Woodruff earning second-team honors. FDSH teammates Hayden Zuspann, Taevon Feeley and Tytrell Mosley were all honorable mention recipients.

Through a 61-game career with the Dodgers, Woodruff scored 747 points, which ranked him 13th on the career scoring list. He tallied 303 of those points this past season.

“I had higher aspirations and wish I could’ve done more, but making first team all-conference is awesome and means a lot to me to be recognized,” Westerhoff said. “I wish my team and I could’ve accomplished more and gone further, but it really is nice to end my career as a Dodger strong by being named first team all-conference.”

Westerhoff, who plans to continue playing basketball at the collegiate level while working toward a degree in mechanical engineering, also had a team-high 170 rebounds and 32 steals to go along with 44 assists.

Woodruff racked up 197 points with a team-high 68 assists. He also recorded 26 steals.

Westerhoff and Woodruff were the only two players to start all 21 games.

Zuspann scored 140 points with a team-leading 35 three-pointers, adding 44 rebounds. Feeley had 72 points with 78 rebounds, 32 assists, 14 steals and nine blocks in 16 games — including 13 starts.

Mosley recorded 60 points, 30 rebounds, 24 assists and 19 steals in 20 games, making four starts.

All three of those players are juniors who will be counted on to help replace the production lost from Westerhoff and Woodruff.

“I’m happy for Cade getting on the first team and Carter on the second,” FDSH head coach Willie Williams said. “Both of those guys had excellent careers for us as Dodger basketball players.

“For the other three, this shows them what they need to do to improve and get better because we will need that from them next season.”

Ames, which won the league title and advanced to the Class 4A state quarterfinals, had three on the first team in unanimous selections Jamison Poe and Abram Vos alongside Marach Dau. Poe was previously a student in the Fort Dodge school district.

Marshalltown’s Kyle Smith was also a unanimous choice, as was Mason City’s Marcele Whitner and Da’Shaundris Moore from Waterloo East.
